Major Activities in My Life

In general I find I play a lot of sports and cook a lot. This page has links and information about the sports I play and the teams I have been on, and also some helpful cooking links.

My favorite sport is the game of Ultimate Frisbee. I have been playing since college. In college I played on my college team, called Clockwork Orange which was a women's team. During the summers I would go back to the San Francisco Bay Area and for a summer and 2 weeks played with Ebb and Flow, which was a great co-ed ultimate group out of the Menlo Park Area. Out in Singapore and I played pick up with a group that can loosely be called Singapore Ultimate. Now that I am in LA their is a growing LA Ultimate scene. I have been playing with a women's group called Phyllis. Ultimate has been good for me. While I love volleyball, and play a bit on the beach and indoors, and I really enjoyed my time rowing crew, I find that the people who play ultimate are a good group who I enjoy a lot.

My other major activity is cooking. At Princeton I was part of the Two Dickinson Street Co-op which was a group of around 40 who would cook and eat together. I would cook once a week for the group, liberally using our 25 pound bag of chocolate chips. In Singapore I would cook once a week for four people that I worked with. I love making food and have found a lot of great links to food places on the net. The Dinners Co-op is a great source of recipes, and Flora's Hideout has a lot of great dessert recipes. Then their is Ketchum Kitchen a friendly home of food and cooking fun. I also like Veggies Unite a vegan storehouse of information. Now that I am a poor student I cook my lunches to take for the week, everything from sushi to stew. Cooking, especially baking, is a favorite way for me to spend my time.

I also like to read a lot, and read on average a book a day. Sometimes good books, sometimes trashy ones, but I believe balance is the most important thing, and as long as I temper my trash with more serious literature, I am doing a good job of working my mind.

Traveling was an important part of my life.  For my last 6 months in Singapore I had a rule, leave the country every 3 weeks.  I did it.  A cool Chinese New Year trip through Australia, 3 weeks in India with my cousin Alex, the British Isles and Scandinavia on my way around the world.  I saw so many amazing things and met some great people. Now that I am back in the USA, things like Scuba diving and travel have to be limited, but their are now many more places in the world I want to see.

This is just a bit on my general interests and activities.
